Tony Calderbank

Tony works to expand access to QFI programs throughout the U.K. and Ireland; he’s based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Before joining QFI in November 2018, Tony worked for the British Council, the UK’s cultural relations organization, and held postings as Country Director in South Sudan, Bahrain and Libya, and as Deputy Country Director Saudi Arabia. Tony has also worked in Higher Education, teaching Arabic and Translation at the University of Salford and English and Comparative Literature at the American University in Cairo. Tony studied Arabic and Persian at the University of Manchester and has a MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Salford. He is a translator of Arabic literature and has published many novels and short stories.
